Team Building “Survivor” Style
May 2, 2009
We’ve noticed that styling our team building events to popular television shows really work, not only in terms of attracting people’s attention, but in the overall success of the event as an effective team building activity. Survivor has been a highly subscribed show, and no doubt has got many people want to be in the game one time or another.
Since we incorporated the concept of the show to our very own Corporate Survivor, the success of the show extended to our Survivor-themed team building event. Companies who have already played would continue to rave on the event. It’s a great way to have fun, learn and develop skills, and build better working relationships all in one event.
Just like in the show, the participants will be divided into tribes which will be put through many different kinds of challenges. But unlike on TV, tribes here will have to work together to be the last surviving team. Team building comes in custom planned challenges based on what outcome you want your people to achieve in the end.
We have a lot of sample tribal challenges like the Obstacle Course, a race to be completed by every member of the team, one by one, once through and back. Another is the Water Transfer, where teams have to transfer water from the well into their tub using only a leaky bucket. Other usual challenges are the Red Adair, Mind Boggler and the Riddler. But you can include any challenge you want to!
Corporate Survivor has its own Tribal Council, too, which pretty much makes for the hardest challenge. Just like in the show, tribes will be breaking alliances soon as they have formed one, so teams face the greater challenge of having to switch loyalties and focusing on the survival of their own team. Nonetheless with all challenges heavy and light, teams are surely up for a day of excitement and fun competition.
