Team Building Activities Where Everyone Can Participate

May 16, 2008

Sometimes team building activities can only suit a part of the group, or require too much expertise at a skill to be really enjoyable.  Here are some ideas where everyone can have fun and truly build the shared history and common bonds required to function as a team.

Kayaking

Kayking is a sport that doesn’t take too much time to master to the point of enjoyment, and is an exciting way for everyone to spend the day.

Using double kayaks make it a must for 2 employees to work together and this facilitates team building, as does the different challenges along the route that groups must navigate together using cooperation and sharp decision making skills.

When using a pre-arranged kayaking adventure as a team building activity all of the equipment is provided, along with a guide, so it makes it really easy for everyone to just show up at the lake or ocean and enjoy the ride.

Drumming

Yes, you read that right – drumming.  A huge drum circle can be an excellent team building activity, and drumming requires no prior musical training what so ever to participate.

A facilitator will bring all the equipment to the team building event, and will help the group create different rhythms and sounds with the drums; and in the end produce amazing music by working together.

Playing in a musical group creates a wonderful sensation of being in a successful team.    And, staff will enjoy the shear fun of beating the drums – which coincidentally, is an excellent way to relieve any stress they may have from work!

Volleyball

Most people have played at least 1 game of volleyball in their lives, even if it was when they were very young!  Either way, it is easy to learn how to play and the rules are quite simple.

As a team building activity, volleyball encourages group participation, and creates space for healthy competition, something most teams require to function at their peak performance level.

And, playing a game of beach volleyball gets everyone outside, and exercising, as well as enjoying a day at the beach together; all of which are important benefits of a team building activity.

These 3 team building activities, are easy for the majority of people to have fun participating in, require no expertise and, most importantly, help develop skills required for successful teamwork.
